People often ask me how I come up with the ideas for my designs. I even heard someone this past week exclaim, andldquo;the person who came up with this chair has way too much time on their handsandrdquo;.

But ultimately, Iandrsquo;m an andldquo;idea-ist.andrdquo;

That is, I work out 90% of the design details mentally before even attempting a prototype. As a self-taught designer, I spend countless hours researching, reading, and contemplating furniture design. Yet most of my inspiration comes from everyday objects. I work out many of these ideas in my head during long sleepless nights when my brain wonandrsquo;t stop thinking.

I design furniture because I have to. Otherwise, I would never get any sleep.
